Jim Lang is a Canadian sportscaster who spent the 1963-64 NHL season as the radio play by play voice for the Boston Bruins.
Lang's career began as the play by play announcer for the Estevan Bruins. He was hired by Weston Adams to replace Fred Cusick, who was moving on to television. Adams had met with Lang and heard his play by play on scouting trips. Adams was very impressed with Lang's impartiality, especially in games between Estevan and their rivals, the Weyburn Red Wings. According to Cusick, Lang "was a dead ringer, in voice and inflection, for Foster Hewitt, Canada's legendary hockey announcer". [1]
Lang was fired after only one season due to his tendency to lean on the negative. [2] He was replaced by Bill Harrington as the radio voice of the Bruins the following season.
